Malvern City Football Club was founded in 1976 by a group of passionate football people who recognised the lack of football opportunities within the Malvern area and had the vision to establish what has become one of Victoria’s leading community football clubs and the largest football club within the City of Stonnington.
History
United We Stand
The club’s first home ground was Central Park, located on the corner of Wattletree and Burke Roads. In 1983, Malvern City moved to Sir Zelman Cowen Park, which remains an important part of the club’s history. From humble beginnings with a senior men’s and reserve team in 1976, the club quickly expanded to include junior teams in 1978, with success arriving early as the senior men’s team secured its first championship that same year.

Today, Malvern City FC proudly supports more than 800 players across 50 teams and provides football opportunities for players of all ages, abilities and ambitions. The club offers a complete development pathway, beginning with our Malvern Minis program for boys and girls aged U4–U7, followed by MiniRoos (U8–U11), High Performance Juniors (U8–U12), Community Boys (U13–U18), High Performance Community Boys (U13–U21), Junior Boys YPL (U13–U18), MiniRoos and Community Girls programs, Senior Women, and our VPL 2 pathway comprising U20s, U23s and Senior Men.

Developing Malvern Players
At the heart of Malvern City FC is a commitment to developing “Malvern players” through multiple pathways that allow every player to progress at a level suited to their ability and aspirations. Whether entering through our community, high performance or elite programs, players benefit from experienced coaching, structured development environments and a clear pathway from junior football through to senior football. We take great pride in seeing players progress through our age groups and ultimately represent the club at senior level.

Our primary football hubs are Gardiner Park and Kooyong Park, which serve as the main venues for training and match-day activities across many of our programs. To accommodate our continued growth and provide the best possible football experience for our members, Malvern City FC also utilises a range of additional facilities throughout the City of Stonnington and neighbouring council areas as required.
